- “Creating an Age-Friendly Community: Assessing Needs and Priorities” - Executive Summary
We are excited to release “Creating an Age-Friendly Community: Assessing Needs and Priorities” -- our report assessing the needs and priorities of seniors in Nelson and Areas E and F.
The report was written by Dr. Janice Murphy, a local research consultant with a broad background in seniors’ issues. It was written after broad community consultation with local seniors, seniors’ organizations and the general public.
Study Purpose
The Foundation initiated this research project so that it can be more effective in allocating the money it has available for granting to seniors’ needs each year. The assessment results will also benefit other organizations and funding agencies concerned with the well-being of seniors in the area.
An added goal of the project was to engage the broader community in this discussion of what would make Nelson and areas E and F more senior-friendly. The project’s advisory panel (see below) represents a broad range of local seniors’ groups and service providers in the community.
